Time Out Market Cape Town has unveiled a brand new boutique wine offering.
Cultivar Wine Bar offers a uniquely curated wine experience, with sommelier Lennox Nyengera, showcasing the quality and diversity of South Africa’s wine regions. In step with the world-class culinary experience served up by the Market’s 13 chefs, Cultivar Wine Bar will pour a world-class taste of the country’s winemaking excellence.
‘Having recently celebrated our first anniversary, we are thrilled to introduce Cultivar to our curated lineup,’ says Russ Meyer, General Manager of Time Out Market Cape Town. ‘This exciting addition not only complements the food the Market offers from the city’s best chefs and restaurateurs but also reinforces our commitment to supporting and showcasing the exceptional talent of local winemakers.’
As a South African-trained sommelier, Nyengera brings a wealth of experience and passion to Cultivar. With a background in fine dining establishments including The Roundhouse, Camphors at Vergelegen, and Chefs Warehouse, he has cultivated a deep understanding of wine, earning certifications from the South African Sommeliers Association and the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
At Cultivar Wine Bar, he and his team of trained wine stewards are committed to sharing their knowledge with guests of all experience levels, making the world of wine approachable, educational, and enjoyable.
At the Bar, guests will find a thoughtfully curated list of South African wines, including limited-edition wines. With more than 120 bottles on offer, the wine list also includes a wide selection available by the glass. That includes a selection of premium wines – don't miss the Restless River Ava Marie Chardonnay – by the glass, offering guests a chance to try rare and high-end releases without committing to a full bottle.
Cultivar caters to everyone from hungry diners to wine aficionados, with sommelier-led tasting flights that explore the nuances of South African terroir. Guests can sample a variety of wines from across the Cape, and choose from tasting experiences tailored to their preferences.
‘Our goal is to create a welcoming space where guests can discover South Africa’s rich wine culture,’ said Nyengera. ‘Whether you’re here to learn or simply relax with a glass, we’re ready to meet you at your level of interest.’
