In fact, eight vegan restaurants across the Lone Star State landed spots on Yelp’s 100 best vegan restaurants list, with three based in Austin alone.
Among the Texas eateries recognized, Mission Burger in Austin claimed the highest ranking, securing the 32nd spot. This casual restaurant is situated inside River City Market at 2209 S Congress Ave, and their menu is nothing short of impressive. Menu highlights include vegan-friendly dishes like the caballero burger, two impossible patties sandwiched between thrilling bacon, jalapeños, chipotle aioli, American cheese, avocado and a soft bun. Their chicken sandwiches, made from mushrooms, and birria-inspired specials are so flavorful, you’d swear they were all made from real meat.
Aside from the capitol city, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and Plano also showed out, each having a vegan gem on the list. In San Antonio, Hash Vegan Eatery draws in diners with unique dishes like vegan pozole and banana brûlée waffles. In Fort Worth, Belenty’s Love is known for its inventive plant-based takes on Mexican classics, while The Ginger Mule in Houston offers comforting yet flavorful vegan plates. Think sweet and tangy brussel sprouts and crispy tofu sticks.
