Just because Austin is not Chicago or New York doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of great pizza. Neapolitan, Detroit-style and New York-style pizzas are all popular finds in the capital city. Now, thanks to the team behind Austin’s beloved brunch spot Paperboy, locals have even more pizza options with the launch of Loudmouth.

Loudmouth is a brainchild of Daybreak Hospitality’s executive chef Patrick Jackson, whose name draws from Jackson’s boisterous grandfather. “Stemming from my childhood memories of cooking with my grandpa Joe, this concept is one that I’ve been excited about for almost a decade,” Jackson says in an official statement. “I always felt like everything that happens in the family happens around food. Whether hanging in the kitchen or sitting around the table, it’s loud and fun and familiar, and that influence can really be seen with the style of our menu.”

On the menu, you’ll find shareable plates like meatballs, wings and roasted carrots, alongside contemporary takes on classic Italian-American dishes and wood-fired pizzas with playful twists. For example, the “Lone Star” features locally inspired ingredients like roasted chicken, mozzarella, cheddar, red onion, cilantro, and barbecue sauce. Their sandwiches are equally tempting: meatball subs, house Italian, and fried green tomato sandwiches—all served on homemade hoagie rolls with potato chips.

The restaurant is housed in the Haynes-Delashwah house, which was once home to one of Austin’s first African American doctors, Thomas DeLashwah. Customers can munch on their bites at picnic tables shaded by large oak trees or inside, though indoor seating is limited to 40 seats.

Loudmouth opens its doors for pizza-loving Austinites today. And if you can’t make it to the grand opening, no worries—Loudmouth will be serving up delicious bites seven days a week. To peep the menu, hours, and upcoming events, visit loudmouth.pizza or their Instagram
