With high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, it’s no wonder Dish Society has managed to grow its presence in Houston and Austin. Since opening its first Austin location last year, the all-day eatery is now expanding to a second spot—this time at 1600 S. 1st Street in Bouldin Creek.
“South Austin is really vibrant and booming,” said Dish Society’s CEO Aaron Lyons in an official statement. “We love its proximity to Downtown and other areas like South Congress, South Lamar and Zilker Park. It’s a good central locale with great restaurants and a lot of biking and walking, which attracts the type of folks that tend to be our fans. As always, we want to be that accessible neighborhood spot you can visit multiple times a week.”
The second Dish Society is expected to open in early 2025 and will occupy a 3,500 square foot restaurant, offering 80 indoor seats, up to 50 outdoor seats, bar seating, a walk-up window for quick takeout service and free validated parking.
While the new location won’t offer an entirely new menu, you can still expect house favorites like Texas hot chicken, shrimp and grits and beignets topped with powdered sugar and sweet coffee anglais, along with Proud Pie’s hand-crafted pies. Starting today, October 31, fall classics—think chicken pot pie, harvest salad and butternut squash bisque—will make a return to the menu.
Helmed by culinary director Brandi Key, the menu will continue to shift based on seasonality, with 75% of ingredients sourced from Texas farms and ranches—underscoring the mini-chain’s commitment to sourcing locally grown produce.
Bouldin Creek residents can consider themselves lucky to live so close to fresh, affordable modern Southern fare.
