The Location
Located just across the street from Shandao Temple Station, Hotel Resonance is one of the most convenient hotels in Taipei. Not only is it one stop away from Taipei Main Station, but it’s also surrounded by popular eateries, including Fu Hang Soy Milk, Moon Moon Food and Chung Ching Store. If you don’t mind a longer walk to explore the rest of the neighbourhood, you’ll also find Simple Kaffa, which has been awarded as one of the cafés in the world, and Huashan 1914 Creative Park nearby.
The Vibe
This boutique property, built in 2020 during the throes of the pandemic, features a statue of a saluting golden duck in the middle of the hotel lobby – an icon heralding hope for the future. The hotel stands in an area that was once home to green camphor forests, a key component in the production of film rolls. You’ll find elements of filmmaking throughout the property, from a large mural in the lobby to "On Air" lights by your room door to signal that you don’t want to be disturbed.
Service is warm and friendly, with staff that can communicate in English. It’s also worth noting that Hotel Resonance offers three washers and dryers free for guest use – an appreciated amenity, especially for longer stays. Detergent is provided and you can watch for available machines from the comfort of your room through the in-room TV.
The Rooms
Hotel Resonance has a total of 175 rooms ranging from 30 to 52sqm. We stayed in the 32sqm Corner Room Twin, which is ideal for a couples. The toilet and shower areas are separated, making getting ready in the morning a breeze, and the room also comes with a bathtub for those who like to soak.
While there isn’t a breakfast buffet option, Hotel Resonance offers something even better. The hotel collaborates with the popular Yong He Soybean to provide guests with a breakfast package delivered straight to their door by a robot. Skip the queue and enjoy a traditional Taiwanese breakfast in bed before you head out to explore the rest of Taipei. Alternatively, you can visit the on-property Starbucks for your morning coffee or an evening nightcap – it’s the only Starbucks in town that serves alcoholic beverages like beers and wines. Hotel guests enjoy 10 percent off their bill.
