There’s nothing like winter in Melbourne. When the weather cools down, the country’s cultural capital heats up with once-in-a-lifetime art exhibitions, top-notch dining, cosy bars, plus plenty of indoor shopping.
If you’re an art-lover or an adventure-seeker looking for a new experience, then the big drawcard is this year’s Melbourne Winter Masterpieces program. We’re giving one lucky reader and their guest the chance to spend a winter weekend delving into both Winter Masterpieces exhibitions; MoMA at NGV: 130 Years of Modern and Contemporary Art and Wonderland. The first, located at the National Gallery of Victoria, is a showcase of more than 200 seminal works from New York’s Museum of Modern Art – think Dalí, Picasso, van Gogh, Pollock and many more. Our winner will arrive in Melbourne on a Friday, then head to NGV Friday Nights to see the MoMA exhibition after hours.
The second big exhibition, Wonderland, is the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI)’s highly immersive and interactive trip down the rabbit hole of Alice in Wonderland’s many incarnations in pop culture since her story was created by Lewis Carroll in 1865.
On top of that, our winner will be treated to drinks at the Elysian, lunch at Argentinian grill Palermo, brunch at Kelso’s Sandwich Shoppe, drinks at fairy tale-themed bar Storyville, plus dinner at South East Asian restaurant Rice Paper Sister.
To cap it all off, the winner will be exploring Melbourne even further with a Hidden Secrets Tour through the laneways and arcades of the city.
Of course, we’ll cover flights and accommodation, too. To enter, all you have to do is enter your details below before Thurs May 31.
