Yes, it's in a casino and it's in Pyrmont, but don't hold that against the Darling, which is all about contemporary design and the latest in-room technology.
An integral part of the $870 million redevelopment and extension of The Star complex and located on the edge of Sydney Harbour, the Darling is the first five-star hotel to open in Sydney’s CBD since the 2000 Olympic Games.
And though luxe and new, it's already undergoing a mini facelift, set to be completed by October 2015. Guests can now look forward to new features at its spa, a fitness centre and a gleaming new lobby upgrade.
With its prime position near Sydney Harbour and panoramic views of the city skyline, Harbour Bridge and out to the Blue Mountains, the Darling offers four different kind of suite – Penthouse, Stellar, Adored, and Jewel – as well as 114 Darling Rooms.
Luxury buffs take note: rooms boast 400-thread Egyptian cotton sheets and a hand-picked pillow menu, plus textured wallpaper and and bespoke furniture. The hotel also features a spa (called the Spa), a eucalyptus-scented pool and is home to Sokyo Japanese restaurant.
