Summer’s coming and the year’s nearly done: it’s high time to enjoy a long, boozy Friday lunch on a closed-down chunk of George Street out in the open air.
This is YCK Fair– the latest daytime event hosted by Sydney’s premium small bars precinct, YCK Laneways. Part of the Open for Lunch initiative on Friday December 2, YCK Fair offers a fantastic lunch deal with a three-course menu, an arrival cocktail and two more drinks for a cool $65+ booking fee.
George Street between Market Street and King Street will be closed off and turned into a Fair Day playground with amusements and roving entertainment along with alfresco dining.
Guests can choose between one of six long tables, each curated by a different YCK bar with a unique food and beverage offering. Participating YCK venues will be showcasing a range of chefs pulling together menus that are out of the ordinary. For example, Stitch Bar will offer a potato gratin topped with caviar; a take on the classic braised beef ossobuco with roasted bone marrow; and to finish it off they have teamed up with celebrity chef and dessert queen Anna Polyviou to bring you a Lemon and Passionfruit Posset with toasted meringue, vanilla biscuit and popping lychee.
With a total of six different menus on offer there is something for everyone. Esteban will offer a mouth watering South American-inflected menu, PS40 is collaborating with Santiago Aristizabal from Rockpool with a classic and elegant three course menu, Jolene’s has joined forces with the team from Nola Smokehouse & Bar for lunch with Cajun and creole flavours. Cash Only Diner is brining you a Vietnamese-inspired lunch and The Barber Shop will be doing a Christmassy venison roast among other tasty bites. Choose your table and book now.
A big stage on the day will feature live music, and roving sideshow performers will move around the space during food service. YCK is also working to bring fair rides and games to the area to inject a bit of fun on the day. As the lunch concludes, ticket holders are free to roam the area enjoying the entertainment and drinks at the YCK pop-up bar.
To close the day, YCK Fair guests will experience a finale feast for the eyes and ears with a concert in the middle of George Street. Headlined by well-known Australian singer- songwriters Gretta Ray and Yorke, there will also be an exclusive appearance from a top- secret Australian live music act.
In short: we wouldn’t be planning on going back to the office after this lunch event! When you do leave make sure to head out to all the nearby YCK venues to continue the festivities.
YCK Fair takes place on December 2, 2022 and is proudly funded by the NSW Government. YCK Fair is supported by Time Out and Bacardi-Martini, with hero brands Patrón Tequila, Grey Goose Vodka, Bombay Sapphire and Bacardi Rum.
