The Rocks is once again getting into the swing of spring with the return of the Australian Beer Festival, hosted by the Australian Heritage Hotel. Now in its 15th year, this annual celebration of suds will feature over 120 Australian-made beers, the largest offering of craft brews anywhere in Sydney.
From October 11–13, the corner of Glouster and Cumberland Streets will be the setting for a beer lovers’ bonanza, including gourmet food stalls, meet-the-brewer Q&As, blind tastings, Rugby World Cup outdoor screenings and live entertainment. Best of all, entry to the Aussie Beer Fest is absolutely free, meaning anyone is welcome to drop in for a quick schooner or get stuck in across all three days. However, if you want to beat the queues you can pre-purchase your tasters in advance.
The Festival will also host the Australian Hotel’s Home Brew Competition. Amateur brewers will pit their pints against one another for the chance to have their winning beer produced by the Akasha Brewery in Five Dock and sold on tap at the Australian Hotel. Those hoping to compete should register their interest before September 30.
