We're the first to admit that Corona had it right: we would rather be in Mexico. But since we're here instead a two-day festival devoted to tacos and tequila is a solid consolation prize. The street fiesta is happening this weekend down at Dawes Point Park in the Rocks and tickets are free but you do need to register for yours as they're capping it at 2500 people per day.
On offer will be food stalls from Rosa Cienfuegos from Dulwich Hill's tamaleria, serving soft tacos filled with pork, chorizo or brisket, plus tamales. Chula will be slinging tostadas, taquitos and tacos; Bad Hombres will be bringing their plant-powered Mexican fare with nachos and a chilli 'non' carne bowl; and SoCal will be providing the guac and corn chips as well as more tacos. There will also be stalls from Bondi's Panama House, Tex-Mex from Chef In, and Messina is making a dulche de leche dessert for afters.
You can attend a tequila masterclass while you're there, listen to mariachi music, and watch lucha libre wrestlers do melodramatic battle while you eat tacos by the harbour.
