Local powerhouse Sydney Dance Company has temporarily upped stumps from their OG wharfside location (while it undergoes vital, extensive renovations), to a shiny new headquarters in Ultimo. The custom built studio space offers up everything the company has established since 1976, including teaching hundreds of thousands of Sydneysiders and visitors how to dance.
There are more than 65 classes on offer, with each taught by industry practitioners daily. Learn the basics of classical ballet, get a foundation in contemporary dance, strut it out in jazz (or try jazz workout if you want to get extra sweaty) or get down with Latin funk. There are also classes in hip hop, tap, theatre jazz, jazz funk hip hop (JFH), tap and lyrical. Sydney Dance Company Studios also offer pilates and yoga classes so you can work on strength and flexibility that will complement your dancing ability. With that said, there is a class for every ability from absolute beginners courses, drop-in classes, through to advanced workshops.
The studio on Wattle Street includes change rooms and hot showers.
As always, classes are run on a casual drop-in basis, so you can join in at any time of the year.
