If you’ve been working up most of your daily steps heading backwards and forwards from the pantry on a snack raid, then first up we salute you. We all need to do whatever it takes to stay happy right now. But if you do want to balance all the biscuit and chips eating with a bit of home exercise, then Sydney Dance Company (SDC) has just the trick for you.
Their newly appointed conditioning studio manager and former ballerina Felicity McGee would normally be helping the ensemble with their rigorous training regime, but with the studio shuttered right now, she’s offering us, the general snack-eating public, one-to-one Pilates classes instead. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, McGee will tailor a program that works for you. She can help target challenging areas, build up strength and flexibility, or offer specific tips to sharpen your dance technique.
Delivered via the SDC website, each personalised 55-minute session includes toning, strengthening and stretching exercises. It’ll set you back $95 a session, or $200 for a three-pack. SDC artistic director Rafael Bonachela raves about McGee’s expertise. “I can easily translate the anatomical ideas that Felicity teaches into my day-to-day life, working in the dance studio, sitting at my desk or even riding my bike,” he says. “Her clear approach has helped me find efficient and effective ways to move. I feel fit, strong and in condition.”
