It’s no secret that Sydney loves a good festival and Strathfield’s new, mega three day festival is one to add to the list. The Inner West suburb’s town square will transform into a feast for the senses from April 27-29 with cultural performances, international cuisines, art projections, light displays and more.
Get ready to be captivated by Strathfield's vibrant and multicultural community in an array of dazzling performances on Saturday, April 29, including a traditional Welcome to Country with a didgeridoo, Japanese drumming, Bollywood dancing and a lion dance performed on poles. You also won’t want to miss energetic musical numbers from the Hot Potato brass collective, an unforgettable show from one of Australia’s most well regarded reggae bands Suite Az, lively DJ sets from La Fiesta Sound System and a show from Lah-Lah that's sure to get the little ones moving and grooving.
After working up an appetite, Strathfield's local businesses have got your back with a range of international culinary delights. Embark on a flavourful journey with authentic Malaysian hawker food from Hojiak, comforting Vietnamese dishes from Lush Bowl N Roll, creamy Italian pasta from Barone or a refreshing bingsoo from Cafe Crop. While you feast, watch the Square transform into a spectacle of light and colour, brought to life by local students' artworks projected onto the buildings.
The Strathfield Festival is located just a 20 minute drive from the city and runs on Thursday, April 27 from 6-9pm, Friday, April 28 from 6-10pm and Saturday, April 29 from 11am-10pm. Make sure to bring the kids along on Saturday for a fun-filled long lunch, complete with face painting, henna tattooing, a Korean cooking class, and hula hoop dancing lessons. Plan your day here.
