The Olympics of coffee is here… Soul Origin’s annual National Barista Competition. Don’t just settle for sipping your morning brew, come witness the ultimate caffeine showdown at La Marzocco Showroom in Botany on Friday April 21.
Highly skilled Soul Origin baristas from around the country have been handpicked in an effort to find the best barista in Australia. The 2023 final is set to be the biggest yet with more than 6 teams and 10 individual competitions. However, only one barista can win the National Barista title.
The battle begins as individual baristas from each state go head-to-head in a 15-minute power round where they must execute four espressos, four milk-based beverages and four signature beverages. However, it’s not just a game of speed – each barista must justify the type of coffee they have selected for judge and coffee expert, Sam Taylor. Competitors then have to back up their knowledge in the espresso round and can then have the chance to flex their creative muscles and craft a signature beverage.
The coffee showdown continues in the team competition where three Soul Origin staff members from each state will join forces to take on the challenge of executing 15 random beverages with speed, skill and flair. It's a race against the clock as these teams must become a well-oiled machine to come out on top.
Find out who will come out on top at the National Barista Competition on April 21 starting 9am-4.45pm, followed by an award ceremony at 5pm. Entry is free – just rock up at 14 Underwood Ave, Botany NSW.
