Are you the kind of New Year’s Eve reveller who’s looking for a night of wild abandon before gazing into the coming year through a haze of fireworks? Or, are you holding out for a more civilised affair with Champagne flutes and fine dining? Perhaps you’re looking for a relaxed environment to enjoy the countdown with the family?

Whatever your NYE needs are, we’ve got you sorted with this bang-up list of parties, dinners and family-friendly events. You can be right in the midst of the harbourside action, or high above the clamouring city streets by booking a space at the bar, on the dancefloor, or at the grand feast table for Sydney’s spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Prepare for a spectacular NYE

Untied is inviting you to rise above the humdrum of the city streets this NYE and join their sunset rooftop party in Barangaroo’s favourite tropical oasis. These chill-masters have concocted the perfect holiday party vibe, with refreshing drinks and canapés flowing from 6-9pm, and an uplifting live house performance by headline act POOLCLVB all included in your golden ticket entry price of $140. The vibrant party will put you right in the centre of all the fireworks action on the harbour at Barangaroo.

If 2018 has taken it out of you, spend NYE getting pampered at 12-Micron. This elegant, modern Australian restaurant at Barangaroo is giving you the flexibility of two lavish options. Toast to the new year with your complimentary glass of Champagne and enjoy a relaxing four-course tasting menu, with fresh lobster and Wagyu beef. Or head to their Gatsby-themed cocktail party in the Waterman’s Room for live music and dancing inspired by the roaring ’20s, plus floor-to-ceiling Moët & Chandon Champagne tower with four hours of cocktail and canapé service. Either package can be yours for $190 per person.

Honour the year that was with a secluded dining experience catered by Sydney's steak and seafood professionals. Kingsleys are offering you harbourside dining and views of the fireworks without battling the crazy city crowds. Families can celebrate in this lovely corner of the harbour with a 5.30pm seating for a three-course family meal for $90 per adult and $30 each for kids. Late-night revellers will flock to the 8pm seating, where they’ll enjoy a four-course meal with a glass of Champagne for $149 each.

Any proud Surry Hills resident knows this sprawling homage to wine is the perfect place to get a little raucous while enjoying a fine vintage. And if you love that feeling of community, it’ll be the first choice for your New Year’s celebration. Because they know you so well, the Winery has put together a two-hour drinks package and organised a three-course meal to fortify you throughout the evening, all for $130. Plus, it puts you in an ideal location to kick on into the wee hours of the morning. So say sayonara 2018 among friends at the Winery.

It could hardly be an Australian New Year without some wild dancing on the beach. Head to Manly Wine and you’ll be poised to skip into 2019 on the sand after enjoying an à la carte feast at this relaxed beachfront wine bar. When you make a NYE booking here, they’re giving you free rein over the menu and bar list. If you’re bringing a group of four or more pals, they’ll even throw in a complimentary bottle of Chandon Brut to end the year right. Here, you'll escape the skyscrapers and see out the year Manly style.

Want to be at the heart of Sydney’s social scene this New Year’s Eve? Bungalow 8 is your go-to. With uninterrupted harbour views, this King Street Wharf mainstay will energise your evening, with sets from Aussie duo the Aston Shuffle and DJ master Luke Million. Be welcomed into this urban jungle bar for $69, or splash out on a VIP package in the Loft with drinks and canapé packages for $120-$180. There’s also the option for your crew to take over half or the whole balcony, if you’ve got enough party people.
