After a massive five-star debut in Melbourne, the West End and Broadway hit & Juliet has landed on the Sydney stage. The blockbuster production, which flips the script on the most famous love story ever told, will be calling the Sydney Lyric Theatre home from February 27 to June 2.
Adapted from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet into a modern day feel-good show, this empowering musical reimagines the tragic ending to the star-crossed lovers – instead of ending it all with Romeo, Juliet Capulet carries on, and this musical is all about what happens next.
Penned by Emmy-winning writer David West Read (Schitt's Creek) the show features bombastic pop hits from Swedish songwriting powerhouse Max Martin, which serve as the beating heart of this jukebox musical.
The all-star Aussie cast is led by Lorinda May Merrypor in the title role, with music theatre icon Amy Lehpamer steering the story as Shakespeare’s wife Anne. Australian Idol alum Rob Mills fights his wife for the quill as Shakespeare, and Casey Donovan steals the show as Angélique. Blake Appelqvist steps up as bad boy Romeo, with music theatre star Hayden Tee taking the role of Lance. Newcomers Jesse Dutlow as May and Yashith Fernando as Francois round out the main cast.
Come for the Shakespeare of it all and leave in stitches after a night out of pure joy (which we all need) where you'll belt out anthemic songs including ‘Baby One More Time’, ‘Roar’, ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ and more.
Tickets start from $74.50 and are on sale now.
