For those born without the gift of a green thumb, Little Succers' build-your-own-terrarium business is a godsend. After operating out of a pop-up store in Surry Hills for two years, founder Tara Shelton has launched a permanent studio in Neutral Bay.
Think of the Litte Succers Build Your Own Terrarium Bar as a little like a lolly shop. You'll walk through stations holding stones, coloured pebbles, vases, decorations, and of course, the little succs where you can pick and mix whatever takes your fancy. You'll pay $20 to book in your spot for a 90-minute session, but that's completely deductible against the cost of the elements you use to build your terrarium (to give you some idea, people generally spend between $60-$145 on the day depending on the size of terrarium they choose to build).
With a huge neon sign on the window with the cheeky tagline 'because flowers die' and walls adorned with a hand painted succulent mural, the eye-catching studio has taken up residence in the corner shop on Ben Boyd and Military Roads (opposite The Oaks), which sat vacant for 12 months after spending a decade as an Optus shop.
Terrarium classes are in session every two weeks, and you can also book the bar for private events such as kids’ parties, hens’ celebrations and corporate team building events. Check for next sessions and book your spot here.
