Summer may be well behind us, but you can still get a taste of la dolce vita with a classic Italian cocktail: the Amaretto Sour. Fluffy, sweet, lemon-y and sour, the complex tipple is made with the original amaretto – Disaronno. Made in Saronno, Italy (Disaronno translates to ‘from Saronno’), the classic liqueur is still produced with the exact recipe it first began with in 1525.

This April is National Amaretto Sour Month and to celebrate, Disaronno is teaming up with some of the best bars and restaurants across Sydney, Melbourne and Tassie all month long to serve up its own limited-edition Amaretto Sours.

In Sydney, get a taste of the celebrated cocktail at the extravagant Italian restaurant A’Mare, the large-scale city dining joint Matteo Downtown, the sunny rooftop Martinez or Redfern’s retro bar Baptist Street Rec. Club.

On the menu? You’ll find authentic Amaretto Sours made with Disaronno as well as some creative cocktails created by each of the venues’ bartenders. There will be a gingerbread version at Matteo Downtown, made with Disaronno amaretto, gingerbread syrup, Bulleit, lemon and whites. Over at Baptist Street Rec. Club, you can find a trio of Amaretto drinks, including one titled Godfather Part 11, which pairs Disaronno Amaretto with whiskey and orange bitters, inspired by the Italian mafias in the film. While you’re there, order up some perfectly paired nibbles from each venue’s food menu.

If you find yourself a bit further south between April 16-17, make a beeline for Melbourne’s relaxed bar and bistro Bar Bellamy, the glamorous cocktail bar 1806 – or the cosy drinking den Rude Boy in Hobart. Disaronno is sponsoring a bar takeover between Rude Boy and Bar Bellamy where you can expect a night of Amaretto Sours, special tipples, and a dolce vita vibe.
