It’s almost that time of the year when the fascinators will be in full force and striped ties become all the rage. Cup Day will be happening on Tuesday, November 1 as everyone from sports fanatics to fashion lovers come for a fun day out.

Whether you’re a true racing enthusiast or just like putting on a frock or suit, Sydney’s finest restaurants and bars will be putting on a show this Cup Day.

From a lavish menu at the Loft to beachside views at Little Pearl and bottomless Champagne at the Winery, we’ve rounded up where to spend Cup Day in Sydney. Bookings are essential.

Boasting a large alfresco area perfect for daytime drinking and mingling, Bungalow 8 is a prime spot to head to this Cup Day. The relaxed tropical bar and restaurant is offering a three-course shared banquet style lunch with a three-hour beverage package for $139 per person. Dishes such as seared tuna with radish, cucumber and yuzu sesame dressing, as well as spiced barbecue chicken with herb yoghurt will be on the menu. Catch all the action on live screens, dance to DJs from 12 noon, and Dane Laboyrie and a live band will play from 3.30pm. Yeehaa!

Sit back, relax and take in the sweeping views of Darling Harbour at the Loft this Cup Day. The waterfront cocktail lounge is offering a Cup Day Package for $159 per person featuring delicious canapés and sharing platters – think Peking duck pancakes, tempura prawn skewers, Wagyu beef sliders – as well as a three-hour beverage package with premium drinks. The Loft will also be hosting sweepstakes, giveaways throughout the afternoon, a fashions on the field competition and DJs will be playing tunes from 12pm until late. Be sure to nab your tickets early as the Loft usually books out early.

Cargo Bar is known for putting on a good time – so you can expect nothing less than good vibes, great music and dancing at the bustling party bar this Cup Day. Cargo Bar & Lounge will be celebrating this November 1 with two packages available. The ground floor option for $110 per person comes with a three-course banquet-style menu with a generous charcuterie board, chicken, fish, salads and roast potatoes for mains and finishing off with pavlova and a vegan brownie for dessert, as well as a three-hour standard beverage package beverage. Or opt to spend the afternoon on the top floor with the upstairs lounge option for $139 with a grazing station featuring Australian king prawns, freshly shucked oysters and more, a three-hour premium beverage package and a glass of Piper Heidsieck on arrival.

Book a seat at buzzing Surry Hills restaurant the Winery this Cup Day for a lush outlook, an excellent wine list and sun-drenched terrace. This Cup Day, the Winery is offering a five-course set menu featuring Sydney rock oysters with finger lime, whipped cod roe and sourdough, zucchini flowers with anchovies and rosemary dressing, chargrilled spiced lamb backstrap with fennel and pomegranate, roasted pumpkin with green tomato salsa verde and pickled yellow chilli, a crème brûlée with raspberry sorbet and more for $169 per person. It also includes a three-hour premium beverage package, and for an extra $30 you can upgrade to bottomless Champagne. Plus, queens will be bringing the sparkle, there’ll be sweeps, best-dressed prizes and a show after the race has finished.

Take in the fresh harbour breeze and glorious sunshine this Cup Day at Kingsleys Woolloomooloo. Situated by Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, the premium steak and seafood restaurant is offering a four-course set menu, a three-hour premium beverage package and a glass of Champagne on arrival for Tuesday, November 1, for $220 per person. Think Moreton Bay bugs, wok-fried with chilli and basil butter, Australian king prawns with lemon and chive mayonnaise, roasted Angus rib eye with café de Paris butter and red wine jus, and more. The six best dressed will receive a bottle of Piper Heidsieck and a $100 voucher, and the best-dressed table will receive a glass of Piper Heidsieck per person. Cheers.

A vibrant rooftop bar in the heart of Bararangaroo, Untied offers a blissful haven away from Sydney’s bustling streets. If you’re wondering what to do this Cup Day, look no further as Untied is throwing a Rooftop Melbourne Cup Party, complete with DJs, tasty food and booze with tickets from $149 per person. See the big race on the big screens while enjoying an 11-piece canapé selection alongside a three-hour premium beverage package. High energy band Sexy Sunday Jam will be on from 12-5pm, with DJs from 5pm. The after party kicks off from 4pm – so be sure to stay around. Head to newly opened Henley’s Bar & Kitchen on Cup Day and take advantage of the water views overlooking Darling Harbour, the relaxed and fun atmosphere and its great offering. For $110 per person, you’ll experience an array of canapés such as blue swimmer crab and avocado tarts, grilled chicken skewers with lemongrass and shallot and lamb kofta with mint yoghurt and pickled onion, with a glass of bubbles on arrival. If you get there early, Henley’s is serving $10 Mimosas and Aperol Spritzes from 10am to 12 noon. Dance to the DJs who will be playing tunes from 12-7pm, and the best-dressed people will each receive a bottle of Veuve.

You’d be hard pressed to find a better spot to celebrate Cup Day than bright and breezy Manly restaurant Little Pearl Bar & Dining. Overlooking the golden sands and blue sea of one of Sydney’s best beaches, Little Pearl Bar & Dining is hosting a special Cup Day event, where groups of friends and colleagues are welcome to book a ticket, come on down and join in on the beach-side fun. For $179 per person, Little Pearl’s Cup Day offer includes a nine-course set menu where you can get stuck into delicious hawker-style Asian dishes, as well as a three-hour beverage package and a glass of Champagne on arrival. DJs will be playing from 3-6pm, and be sure to get dressed up as you may very well go home with a prize.
