A wander through the Botanic Garden is a refreshing delight on any day of the year, but it’s going to be extra spectacular on December 31. Make your NYE a leafy one at this cocktail party at the Calyx.
The all-inclusive event covers all your food and drinks for the evening, and will bring live music and bright lights to this forest within the garden. When you’re not getting down on the green dancefloor, check out some of the fascinating carnivorous plants at the Plants With Bite exhibition that’s currently on display.
The rather deluxe menu for the night includes two grazing stations – one of fresh seafood and another of local antipasto – plus canapes like chorizo and fennel sausage rolls, cheese and truffle croquettes, and za’atar chicken skewers, then cinnamon doughnuts and profiteroles for dessert. The drinks will be flowing with gusto and include the standard sparkling, beers, wines and soft drinks.
And if you’re worried about not having a waterfront view, stress no more, because the party people from the Calyx have also called dibs on a harbourside spot. You’ll simply need to wander over to the water when the fireworks light up the Opera House and the rest of the foreshore.
