Amy Shark. Daryl Braithwaite. Tommy Little. Bluey and Bingo. Now if that’s not a list of some of the country’s most beloved entertainers, we don’t know what is. And it also just happens to be a little glimpse of the epic line-up for Encore Manly – a brand new music and comedy festival coming to Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
The action kicks off on August 17, and will see more than 60 established and up-and-coming acts hit up the pubs, bars and clubs of Manly. Joining the aforementioned performers are local music legends like the Presets, Boy and Bear, You Am I, Client Liaison and Bag Raiders. There's truly something to suit all music tastes.
On the comedy front, there will be plenty of laughs provided by renowned jokesters Lizzy Hoo, Peter Helliar, Merrick Watts, Alex Dyson and Mel Buttle – you'll want to be quick though, tickets for these hilarious sets are sure to go fast.
There’s plenty to keep the kids busy, too – the Beanies, Dr Hubble's Bubble Show and the Jitterbugs will all take to the stage for a series of engaging and lively shows.
Manly resident and INXS member Kirk Pengilly is the official ambassador for the festival, which is the latest in a string of recent event announcements for Manly, cementing the vibrant beachside suburb as a must-visit destination for Sydneysiders and visitors alike.
“Encore Manly is aimed squarely at bringing live music, live comedy and live family entertainment to the great venues we have here by the harbour and the beach,” he says. “Entertainment in general – comedy, music – it brings people together. I think that’s really important now for all of us to come back together again and be social and hang out.”
Encore Manly features both free and ticketed events. It is proudly funded by the NSW Government as part of the CBD’s Revitalisation Program. For more information and to see the full line-up, head to the website.
