Whenever a public holiday rolls around, with extra time off for city workers and the potential for big backyard barbecue feasts, Sydney Fish Market seems to be Sydney’s catering saviour.
Sydney Fish Market hauled long hours through Christmas and the New Year, and will be once again extending its operating hours for Easter. Here's everything you need to know about loading up on fresh seafood for however you choose to celebrate the long weekend.
The market will be dishing out the goods on Good Friday from 5am to 5pm to ease the crowds. Normal trading hours (7am to 4pm) will remain in place from Saturday to Easter Monday. You'll be able to shop for up to 100 species of fish and crustaceans, with six seafood retailers ready to welcome you and provide you with everything you need for a memorable Easter feast this year.
Find everything in one place with a bakery, gourmet deli and greengrocer for all your fresh fruit and veggies needs. Plus, plenty of restaurants and cafés if you need to take a break mid-shop to fuel up. Before you head out, stop in at the market’s very own bottle shop where you can stock up on all the good stuff including Aussie craft beers and some vintage finds.
Getting there will be easy with the Sydney Fish Market car park open, as well as additional parking on Good Friday at Sydney Secondary College which you can enter via Pyrmont Bridge Road.
Head to the Sydney Fish Market website for more information and to plan your visit.
