Western Sydney proudly encompasses some of Sydney’s most culturally rich and diverse suburbs, showcasing the joy that immigrant communities bring to Sydney. Parramatta – Sydney’s geographical centre – has both natural beauty (head to Lake Parramatta for a lovely riverside walk) and built beauty (make sure you check out Parramatta Park or the Riverside Theatres). You’ll also be furnished with delicious things from brekky (try Circa Espresso for great coffee and their famous Ottoman Eggs), to dinner (people travel for Temasek’s laksa and beef rendang), and even cocktails afterwards (check out Uncle Kurt’s). The sprawling suburb of Auburn is home to the Auburn Botanic Gardens, which hosts the yearly gorgeous Cherry Blossom Festival, and the Peacock Gallery. You’ll find more artist precincts like Casula Powerhouse, which is home to an amazing archive of community artifacts, and also hosts the annual innovative multidisciplinary arts festival Soft Centre. You can also take a culinary world tour without leaving Sydney – start by hitting up Jasmin’s for Lebanese, Lao Village for Laotian fare and the Mandoo for Korean. These establishments and their own ‘signature searches’ represent the character and diversity that make each part of Sydney so special.
