As a practicing 3D computer artist, researcher and academic based out of UNSW’s Faculty of Art and Design, McGhee specialises in visualising and immersing people in scientific data through design. Currently he’s working with St Vincents Hospital: “We’re helping stroke patients to visualise their own scan biomedical data.” His work takes the fear out of immersing patients in their own medical data, creating virtual worlds using data that is usually hidden away.
In the future John hopes: “That the powers that be don’t continue curtail the city’s nightlife. Culture will not thrive in our current context – if you remove a big chunk of the cultural ecosystem, you inhibit it.”
