BBR Festival, which is short for Bleu Blanc Rouge – the colours of the French flag – is back for its fourth year of French festivities, paying homage to France’s National Day. It'll be a weekend of live concerts, traditional French cabaret, French films, cooking masterclasses and more.
It runs from Bastille Day, which is celebrated on July 14. There will be a party on Thursday night with music, dancing, eating and drinking. Plus, there'll be a screening of cult film Les Bronzés font du ski at the pop-up open-air cinema.
The weekend festival will also include a French Village Market with everything from baguettes to smelly cheese and traditional croissants and crêpes. This year's market is also a European marketplace with 60 vendors from nine countries including Greece, Italy and Germany.
Another major highlight of the festival is the Canadian Snow Island. There'll be real snow and a hockey field set up at AMP Square and Scout Place. Players from the Sydney Bears will host a street hockey game and afterwards you can treat yourself to a Canadian delicacy – poutine.
