You know the drill: if this bus drops below 50 miles per hour (about 80km/h) we all die. That's the premise of Speed, the 1994 Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock action thriller that became a surprise hit at the box office. And that's exactly what the artists behind this comedic theatrical version hope to do when it plays this year's Sydney Fringe.
Speed mightn't seem like the most obvious choice for theatrical adaptation with its high stakes action sequences, and being set almost entirely on a bus. But what happens when you take the show out of the theatre and put it inside (and around) an actual vintage Volvo? That's what happens in this hit show from Brisbane. Expect non-stop action, some inventive special effects and plenty of gags about Keanu.
The show is playing from September 20 to 28 inside a bus on Atherden Street in the Rocks. Each performance has limited capacity (how many people can you fit on a bus?) so be sure to book early.
