What are you doing this Wednesday evening, November 23? If you have plans, you may want to move them. And if you’re free, well great, and listen up.
From public apologies to high-profile resignations, pre-prepared breakups and wedding speeches gone awry, there’s nothing like a good old fashioned speech to make even a grown adult go weak at the knees.
Instead of shying away, writer and director Hannah Reilly (The Deb, Growing Up Gracefully) and DJ, writer and actor Jonny Hawkins (The Dollar Bin Darlings, Maureen Harbinger of Death) lean in as the hosts for a deep-dive and celebration of humanity’s most dangerous pastime: public oration.
Some of the country's finest comedians, writers and public figures have come together to write, create and perform I’d Like to Say a Few Words, happening at new venue Pleasures Playhouse on Wednesday (Nov 23) from 7pm. Set to be hilarious, heartbreaking and often deeply inappropriate, the production will feature speeches from Walkley winner and author of The Mother Jane Caro AM; actor, comedian, writer and director of Deadloch and Utopia Nina Oyama; writer and actor Nancy Denis; comedian Michelle Brasier; and marketing and manifesting maestro Dan Brophy.
Tickets for I’d Like to Say a Few Words are $25, which is a bargain when you consider all the incredible talent that will be there under one roof.
