You really only need to say one thing to convince any Sydney theatre lover to take a chance on Ensemble’s latest show: Genevieve Lemon plays an unconventional nun with a soft spot for smoking, drinking and folk music. The comedy queen and audience favourite plays sister Winnie in British playwright Tom Wells’ comedy about misfits who find family in an unlikely place.
Lemon stars alongside Gerald Carroll as Winnie’s socially awkward friend Stephen, and Libby Asciak as Winnie’s rebellious former student Kayleigh. Neither Stephen or Kayleigh have achieved much, but Winnie has a plan to launch a club night called "What the Folk?" and give her friends a chance to shine. Terrence O’Connell directs the Australian premiere of the play.
