While dedicated long-distance runners might be perturbed by the word ‘half’, this 21.1km race ain’t a small feat. The endurance-testing course takes competitors on a scenic route, starting on College Street, adjacent to St Mary's Cathedral, winding through the Royal Botanic Gardens, across the Harbour Bridge, around the Sydney Opera House and finishing in Hyde Park. Thousands of Sydneysiders will be taking on the challenge with hopes to raise more than $1 million for ove 900 charities, and you can pick which cause to support.
You can sprint your way through it solo, run as a relay team (which splits the course into 11.5km and 9.5km legs), or amble along in a group, and there’s a 2.5km wheelchair sprint. If you’re feeling a little underprepared as we crawl closer to race day, join one of the free training runs throughout the week.
