Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

The famous Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is a Boxing Day tradition and Sydneysiders can watch the start of the race from various lookout points along the harbour. The race kicks off at 1pm, but it's best to get into position before noon to secure a spot. The best views are from Nielsen Park to Camp Cove on the south side or from Clifton Gardens to Middle Head on the northern side. Both South Head and North Head provide panoramic views of the harbour, so you can watch the yachts head out to the open ocean. Or, if you’re around the beaches, make your way to a spot between Bondi and Cronulla to catch a glimpse of the sails as they pass by.
