Time Out says

If you’ve felt the sting of hefty helmet fines and you’re passionate about alternative safety measures, you might want to join other bike riders at the Freestyle Cyclist Helmet Optional Ride on March 17.

Leaving their helmets behind, riders will take off from Centennial Homestead in the park at 11am and ride two laps around Grand Drive. The aim is to abolish the fine – up to $330 – for not wearing a helmet, while highlighting the health and environmental benefits of choosing a ride over a drive.
