Fast Lane Karting are based on an industrial site, and it’s not easy to spot the entrance, but listen out and you’ll hear the sound of tires screeching and exhausts popping from behind a wooden fence. Fast Lane Karting say they’re the best value go-karting centre in Sydney, which works works out at around 45 cents per second if you’re chasing a 54-second lap. To put pedal to metal you can simply show up and book in on their electronic registers. We suggest picking their $55 package for three seven-minute sessions, that way mixing up who takes pole position and getting the chance to beat your fastest lap time. They’ve got hairnets and helmets ready at the start line, but there’s very little else you need to get started. The go-karting track varies in width making it challenging for overtakers, and slightly more likely for crashing into the barriers. If speed alone is getting boring, try the Drive N Drift package ($30), which gives you access to the drift karts on a separate and shorter route. These karts are designed to turn the more you pump the gas; you don’t chase the clock on this one – so make the most of the chance to burn the rubber and 360 spin at the fatter corners.
