Intricately detailed and shimmering in the window, Winona’s gowns are designed to be noticed. The label first launched in late 2012, and since then it’s steadily made its way from fashion bloggers’ wardrobes to the virtual high street. The Australian label is stocked online via the brand’s own website, on the Iconic and found in select boutiques across New South Wales – now the first flagship store can be found on the corner of Old South Head Road and O’Brien Streets.
In December 2014, the brand experimented with a pop-up shop in Hall Street and when the opportunity arose to take over a spot previously used by a furniture retailer, they snapped up the light and airy space. Hanging on perfectly ordered rails are dramatic floor-length dresses and chic white jumpsuits, hand-beaded hot pants and lace coordinates. Prices range from $179.95 for a knee-length number to just-shy-of $600 for red carpet-worthy outfit.
And we’re not kidding about that red carpet: since Time Out’s visit we’ve seen Winona’s pieces on jewellery designer Samantha Wills and blogger Jeskaa Lee. But elegance isn’t the only look here, Winona knows how to rock a party pant, too. Alongside the occasion pieces, you’ll find daring cut-out designs, deep V-necks and structured leather jackets to punk up a pretty picture. The store also stocks a signature leopard-print heel, waist-cinching metal belts and metallic black and gold knits. It’s a dazzling range, from head to toe. Make a visit to the boutique before those wedding invites start rolling in for summer.
