As the name suggests, Venchi 1878 was established way back in 1878, and if their 140-year-old history is anything to go by, they’re doing something right. Their flavours are exotic enough to offer you an exciting dessert experience without the fuss or frill. A lot of the flavours are directly inspired from Venchi’s Mediterranean roots. We’re talking a range that dabbles in limoncello, olive oil and hints of mascarpone (did someone say tiramisu truffles?).

A welcome sight at the Strand Arcade and Queen Victoria Building plus other posts around the CBD, Koko Black's Sydney chocolate boutiques are an Aussie favourite and for good reason. You can browse sweet delights inspired by true blue flavours like lamington, Golden Gaytime and Wagon Wheels. The cute little native animals are another fan favourite.

While the chocolates are luxurious, the atmosphere is homely. The boutique was opened in 1930 by the Kapos family, and their Greek legacy is evident today in their fusion of European tradition with modern flavours. For those chocolate freckle lovers, Perfection Chocolates hand-pipe a range of messages on rainbow speckled rounds of goodness.

You can find the Rozelle, Petersham, Mosman and Maroubra outposts of this boutique chocolaterie slinging chocolate stilettos and truffles of fine creation. These guys are known to wield some serious skill in the window display department. With their signature royal blue boxes and white ribbons, Belle Fleur may very well be the Tiffany's of the chocolate world.
