Time Out says

The City of Sydney will be giving away plants and flowers from their summer floral displays in exchange for a gold coin donation.

Sydneysiders can pick up a pot of flowers or herbs from Sydney Park at 8am on Sunday morning, until they run out.

There will be pots of mint, thyme, marigold, coleus, westringia, dianella and laurentia, with all donations going to the RSPCA.

Plants and herbs that are being rehoused come from current displays in Darlinghurst, Pyrmont, Green Square, Taylor Square, Ultimo and Kings Cross areas. The recycling project takes place twice a year when the City of Sydney updates its Living Colour displays.
