Vegan Cuisine Month is upon us, and whether you’re a long-term vegan, have been flirting with the idea of becoming one, or simply want to cut back your consumption of meat and dairy, there’s never been a better time to incorporate more plant-based treats into your diet.
Enter Fancy Plants. This team of plant pioneers are passionate about creating fun and flavoursome snacks that each provide a positive source of nutrition. They make eating plant-based easy, so that you can make choices that are better for you and better for the planet. And no, this isn’t some ploy to try and force you to give up meat or dairy – it’s simply about making it easier for people to choose nutritious, plant-based options that leave less of an impact on the world.
In fact, the Fancy Plants crew care so much about Earth’s wellbeing, that they have partnered with international organisation 1% for the Planet to ensure that at least one per cent of all sales go towards not-for-profit social and environmental causes.
But it’s not just a commitment to using their business as a force for good that makes Fancy Plants so special, it’s also about the taste and nutritional benefits of their snacks. There are three products currently available: the Chia Pod, Silky Pot and Rice Pud. All of them are chock-full of added goodies like prebiotic fibre (which helps good bacteria in your stomach flourish) and calcium, and they are also gluten and allergen free.
And while it’s hard to single out our favourite item, there’s no denying the Chocolate Silky Pot is next-level yum. It has a coconut milk base (but you'd never know it), and is smooth as silk, making it the ideal snack when you need a hit of something to curb those sweet cravings.
For the month of February, Fancy Plants is also working with a number of influencers – including Tina Provis and Sam Fricker – on a campaign called Test Your Tastebud. It’s all about testing whether people can taste the difference between a normal dairy chocolate pudding and a Chocolate Silky Pot. There’s a cash prize of $1,000 and a year’s supply of Fancy Plants snacks up for grabs, so to be in the running simply do the taste test yourself, upload an Instagram story or a post using the campaign filter (which is a fancy ‘plant moustache’ – like a milk moustache, but green) and tag Fancy Plants. When you upload the post or story and tag Fancy Plants you’ll automatically end up in the running to win. You can find the plant moustache filter on the Instagram page.
At Woolworths, you can find the Silky Pod and Rice Pud in the chilled desserts section, and the Chia Pod with the plant-based yoghurts. At Coles, you can find the full range in the chilled health section, right next to the tofu. The Silky Pot and Rice Pud twin packs retail for $4, while the Chia Pod is a single serve and retails at $3.
