Most people would skip right past this diminutive corner café on their way to fellow Albion Street dwellers, Chur Burger, Relish or Reuben Hills. But one look at the pimped-up dishes being carried to outdoor tables will stop you in your tracks: they’re colourful, carefully arranged and so Instagram-ready you may as well get your phone out now.
The menu brings a Vietnamese twist to breakfast. The deconstructed banh mi sees everything you’d want in your perfect Vietnamese roll – we’re talking crisp pork belly, veggie pickles, pâté; the lot – laid out on a board ready for you to DIY that sambo. The sweet waffles come with fresh mango and watermelon with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and toasty almonds.
If you want to play it safe, or are simply craving a typical brekkie creation, the eggs bennie or muesli breakfast bowl are there to satisfy the less adventurous. But you’ve made it inside now – why not live a little? Grilled watermelon salad, anyone?
