If you need a venue for your Melbourne Cup party, the Urban Purveyor Group (UPG) of hospitality venues has a clutch of great ideas for the first Tuesday in November – there’s something to suit just about everyone here.

The Argyle – let’s get racy

The Argyle might just be Sydney’s biggest Melbourne Cup day party. Watch the race on the giant screen in the cobblestone courtyard, then stay on for international DJs, door prizes, best-dressed awards and drinks specials. Packages: $99-$149pp.

Saké Restaurant and Bar– the Saké sweepstakes

Enjoy a great Japanese-inspired eight-course banquet menu for $149pp (Saké The Rocks) or $125 (Saké Double Bay), including a glass of Veuve on arrival. TAB facilities will be on the premises.

Fratelli Fresh– Italians and stallions

A classic Italian three-course set menu is $70pp, including a glass of Frizzante on arrival.

The Cut Bar & Grill– stakes and steaks

It’s New York-style steakhouse dining at the Cut with three courses plus a side and glass of Ruinart on arrival for $149pp. TAB facilities will be on the premises.

Café Ananas – crème de la Cup

The $99 set menu includes oysters, chicken liver parfait, hangar steak frites, poisson du jour and opera cake. And it includes a glass of Moët on arrival, naturellement.

El Camino Cantina – Cup Day fiesta

For $69 you get a selection of Tex-Mex favourites plus a great big Margarita on arrival – arriba!

Bavarian Beer Café– hops and horses

Love your beer and schnitzel? Here’s your place to watch the Cup, with a $57 set menu (including Chandon on arrival), sweepstakes and prizes for best dressed.

Munich Brauhaus – raise a stein to the Cup

It’s a day packed with sweeps, prizes, DJs, big-screen race action, and ice-cold steins of bier.
