You might not need classically trained chefs to serve up hot, stuffed toasties – but it sure helps. With a team of Cordon Bleu alumni behind the wheel, Chatswood's Toastiesmith is serving up ten to-go Korean-style sandwiches in its mall location, with another shopfront opening in Darling Square from mid-September.
Each toastie is made like they are in Korea – a filling of fluffy, scrambled eggs is sandwiched between thick, pillowy pieces of brioche and paired with sauces and toppings. As well as the classic version – the standard-bearing egg-stuffed Eggsmith features eggs, melted cheese, roasted sesame slaw, and a kick of spicy tomato relish and chipotle sauce – you can expect unusual flavours. Toastiesmith's wagyu beef don toastie features Japanese simmering beef along with eggs, while the taro toastie features house-made taro paste, pork floss, mayonnaise and osmanthus (a plant native to eastern Asia) in between sweet, fluffy brioche bread.
Toasties range between $7.95 and $12.95. Visit the Chatswood store for your toastie treat between 8am-5pm.
