The modern Cantonese eatery has reopened in full-on restaurant style not long after the closing of its takeaway Chatswood outlet. Farm-to-table cuisine is the star of innovative dishes like tea-smoked chicken salad with rice sheets; cured ocean trout with pepper, rice wine and pickled fennel, and – dessert time! – Hong Kong-style french toast with dulce de leche, peanut crumble and maple mascarpone. The Rice Den has not completely kicked tradition to the wayside, though; there are still old favourites like dim sum on the menu.
The open kitchen and bar interiors feature dark wood, bamboo and Asian pottery, making this an atmospheric spot to enjoy your meal. The Rice Den also boasts their own Canton craft brew, the Rice Den lager, along with a petite deli where they sell their sauces, teas, oils and other fare.
