You might have seen the jaunty typeface announcing Sandoitchi's Darlinghurst shopfront and wandered past, thinking it was just one of the slew of cafés in the inner city. But once inside, it's soon clear enough that it's more than first meets the eye: with an elevated blend of Japanese and Thai flavours, Sandoitchi offers a range of inventive dishes, including the local's lunch favourite, the katsu sandwich ($10).
What's more? They're now open for dinner from Wednesdays to Saturdays, slinging classics and new dishes after hours. Look out for the jumbo Balmain bug katsu ($18) and their signature pork striploin katsu with miso soup ($16).
