Let's all accept that burger joints are going to keep popping up until we reach peak patty. From BL Burgers, to Burgers by Josh, Five Points and Burger Project, to name but a few, Sydney is officially obsessed with meat-filled buns. And judging by the arrival of Royal Stacks in Chatswood, it doesn't look like we're anywhere near that point yet.
An ode to the Shake Shack and In-N-Out buger model, owner Dani Zeini's (of Melbourne's Grand Trailer Park Taverna, Easey's and Truck Stop Deluxe) main draw is serving up consistently tasty and photogenic burgers (what you see in pictures is what you get!). The Single Stack cheeseburger is all the right kinds of juicy between the daily-baked brioche buns, while the spicy Saint with double patties, chipotle mayo and pickled jalapeños and double everything Bacon Bacon will hit the high notes for dude food fans.
We're not sure if Royal Stack has a crowd favourite yet, but it's not hard to see why The King wouldn't be a good contender. At its core, The King is a basic cheeseburger, but the addition of the mac and cheese croquette takes things to a whole other cheesy level.
Another salute to the American burger culture is the frozen custards Zeini devised with Mark Mariotti from Melbourne gelateria 7 Apples. Make sure you leave enough room for at least a few creamy licks of New York cheesecake, Kinder Surprise and peanut butter flavours.
