The Sicilian roots of Chef Lino Sauro have crept into all the dishes at Olio Kensington Street. Sauro’s signature olive oil – the base of every meal – is directly from his family’s farm in Sicily. Like an Italian farmhouse kitchen, you’ll only see sustainably sourced seasonal produce on this menu.
With stereotypical carb-heavy Italian fare getting the boot, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a stodgy carbonara. Instead, try the charred citrus Fremantle River octopus with capsicum aioli and chickpeas. Follow that with a modern take on a classic Sicilian dessert, like the Brioche e Granita: a fruity iced treat with brioche gelato and poached nectarines.
You can enjoy this fresh feast on the rooftop terrace overlooking the bustling streets of Chippendale. Or, be charmed by the old-meets-new interiors of the main dining room, housed in the refurbished Old Rum Store.
