Pizza for breakfast? Lunch and dinner too? You can feast like a king with $1 manoush Mondays at Mt Lewis Pizzeria in Bankstown. That’s right, for just one shiny gold dollar coin, you can enjoy a freshly baked za’ataar manoush (up to 3 per customer), made using recipes passed down through generations.
Manoush is like the Lebanese version of pizza; perhaps a little healthier, but equally as comforting. You can grab one to eat on the go, or take it home and freshen it up by adding any leftover herbs, tomatoes, veggies and yoghurt.
Even if you can’t make it on a Monday, it’s worth the trek out west for Mt Lewis’ flavoursome flatbread pizzas, which also come topped with cheese, sujuk (fermented sausage), meat, or veggies and yogurt. You’ll also find gourmet Italian pizzas with classic toppings like pepperoni, Margherita, Cajun chicken and garlic prawns, along with other Lebanese delights including a haloumi pide, shanklish saj (unleavened bread with blue cheese) and party-size sambousik (savoury pastry) and kebbeh (fried wheat and meat balls).
Be warned: the Nutella moneybags are so addictive and you won’t be able to stop at one (good thing they come by the dozen). But, don’t worry about breaking the bank to satisfy your sweet tooth – Mt Lewis Pizzeria is one of the cheapest eats in town.
