Something is happening north of the bridge. Small bars, buzzy new eateries and revamped bowling clubs are no longer exclusively the domain of Sydney's east, and we reckon it's about bloody time, too. There's the Botanist, SoCal, Side Car and the Hayberry taking care of the thirsty work; the Greens and Five Points Burgers are on North Sydney snack duty; and now Los Vida is bringing Mexican vibes to Crows Nest.
The three-tiered venue has a bar on the top mezzanine for tequila, mezcals, Coronas, Dos Equis and three variations on a Margarita. Down on the restaurant levels there's tacos aplenty, enchiladas and quesadillas, but they also branch out from the more familiar fare, choosing tuna, scallops and prawns over kingfish in their ceviche offerings.
Venues in Westfield Sydney and Wintergarden have already proved popular so it might be worth checking out the people bringing modern Mexican to the northside.
