Mall cafes don’t often make the cut with Sydney’s coffee snobs but Kafenion turns that convention on its head. This cosy family café cranks out great coffee from a lovingly-tended little corner of a loud Shire megaplex and dishes delicious food to boot. In Kafenio’s cute little nook, brother Brendan does the books, mum Tass busses the tables and the salsa music sashays in time with owner Jason Bailey’s swashbuckling work behind the espresso machine. Di Lorenzo beans come creamy and rich (shots served in the traditional piccolo glasses) and the blend marries perfectly with their big brekkies and a spicy sour lentil soup we’ll be back for.
