Meditation and mindfulness are stepping into the kitchen at Hearth and Soul, a permanent venture for conscious cook and pop-up regular Rachel Jelley. Dinner is served at the long communal tables from the custom open-kitchen on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with brunches and lunches on offer over the weekend. Meals here are hyper-seasonal, and the menu lets growers showcase their very best produce. Spring might bring gnocchi with broad bean shoots, pea tendrils and green-garlic cream sauce; braised lamb with barley and fresh herbs from the kitchen’s own organic garden could pop up in winter.
To bolster the restaurant’s mantra of cooking consciously, Jelley also hosts special mindful cooking classes. The hands-on workshops introduce practical skills while spotlighting cooking as way to be present, and to channel creativity. Lean in, get zen.
