Alexandria’s a fair way from the ocean, but you wouldn’t know it at this bright and airy fish and chippery, where they’re frying up some of the city’s best. The crinkle-cut chips are crunchy and golden, the fish is market fresh, and their batter is feather light. You can choose from hake, barramundi, whiting or salmon, but whatever you do, get the salt-and-pepper calamari – marrying a seasoned, crisp exterior with tender meat, they’re a perfect ten. Less traditional but no less tasty are the soft-shell crab burgers with chilli lime mayo, chickpea and pumpkin bites, and a killer grilled barra and tahini burger.
