You’ll need to throw a towel over your shoulder if you want to blend into the beachgoer queue at Ben Bry Burgers. It’s backpacker central here, with tanned sandy bodies clad in bikinis and board shorts spilling out the door. The burgers are the real deal, cooked-to-order behind the glass windows of the open kitchen. The Aussie Burger ($11.50) is your classic combo of beef, bacon, egg, beetroot and salad but there are some more interesting options too, like the Lamblicious ($9.50) that marries lamb mince with aioli garlic sauce and tangy tzatziki yoghurt. The Hangover Cure with Bacon ($9.50) will turn your frown upside down, a glorious calorific overload of streaky bacon, hash brown, avocado, egg, cheese and salad drowned in smoky barbecue sauce and aioli. Vegetarians don’t miss out on all the fun either with three options on the menu. No Bull ($9.50) is a tasty concoction of battered organic tofu smothered in a spicy coconut and peanut sauce, livened with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and alfalfa sprouts. They also offer a Soul-Laffel falafel burger ($10) or the Hangover Cure without bacon ($9).
