There're exciting things happening in the kitchen at Abode Bistro and Bar, the fine dining establishment inside the Parkroyal at Darling Harbour. Anthony Naylor is the new head chef at Abode and he is bringing with him a wealth of experience having most recently hung his whites at Prime Steak Restaurant in the GPO Building.
Naylor will be celebrating local and seasonal ingredients in the two-course and three-course set menus ($50, $65), or you can really see what this Dublin-born chef is capable of with the $65 six-course tasting menu. And as if that isn't a bargain already, matched wines are only an additional $35pp.
Perhaps it's the smoked paprika and sweet corn soup, with crab, lime and salmon roe that speaks to you? Or are you a sucker for a plate of pan-seared scallops with cauliflower purèe, pickled radish, shaved broccoli, pancetta and lemon oil? How can you resist a confit duck breast with wilted greens, mushrooms, bacon and red wine jus followed by a Flinders Island rump of lamb with smoked aubergine, onion marmalade, asparagus, sheep’s milk fetta, olive paint and confit tomato? Of course dessert isn't dropping the ball - bring on the banana parfait with coconut sponge, salted cashews, butterscotch sauce.
